The Feet of Those Who Bring Good News
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” – Romans 10:14-15Romans 10:14-15
English: World English Bible - WEB
14?How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?
15?And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
?How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!?
Ever since the announcement of the Guatemala Missions trip in 2010, I can’t stop thinking about it! I can’t stop thinking about missions. Over the past year, the realization that God has called us to the mission field has become a lot clearer to me, and not just the mission field across the ocean, but the one we wake up to every morning. I was looking through one of my older devotion journals tonight, and I stumbled across this verse. I actually didn’t write down much thoughts on this verse back then, other than there are people around us who are so desperately in need of the love of Jesus Christ, and our actions alone aren’t merely enough.
A friend once told me to “Preach the good news! Use words if you have to!” I think as Christians we too often opt out for the easy way out and say ‘we’ll walk the walk, and they’ll see Jesus through us‘, but I’ve come to the realization that that’s not near enough. Yes, God called us to obey his commands, live lives of integrity and what not, there’s definitely nothing wrong with ‘walking the walk’, but in a generation where there are so many beliefs that being a good person will get you into heaven, our efforts to show Christ through our actions can often be watered down to nothing more than ‘good works’. We need to live out and speak out of the life we have in Christ!

I am reading a book called “Revolution In World Missions” by K.P. Yohanan and there was a section about “talking the talk” and sharing the message of the Gospel with others in missions.
Too often many missions organizations focus too much on helping people through actions and focus less on the saving message of the cross!
Likewise, I think a lot of us grow up thinking that “walking the walk” is better but truly, we need to share the message more adn talk about Jesus Christ and His plan for the salvation of the world!
Great devotion!
